Approach

I am an energetic and warm counsellor, balancing the need for processing and setting a focus (or goals) in order to learn to go forward in life more confidently.  I believe in a client centred and collaborative way of working; in which a client is actively involved within the counselling process.  I use an integrative approach which is tailored to individual needs and draws from a variety of theoretical interventions.

The relationship is the core of the therapy, as is the space and time that is available for the client to explore the issue(s).  This can be by conversation or sometimes, through use of a more creative path.  Care is always taken to ensure that client needs, including confidentiality, are being met; together with the content, speed and timing of the therapy sessions.  Short and long term contracts are available for company and private clients.

I am used to working with people from a wide variety of cultural, sexual, and spiritual backgrounds and lifestyles.

Over the years, I have had extensive experience and further training in:

  • Abuse
  • Anxiety
  • Loss (of many kinds)
  • Life transitions
  • Family and relationship concerns
  • Identity
  • Ill health
  • Self esteem
  • Self-harm and suicidal issues
  • Work related and organisational issues
