My interest in befriending, and later counselling, started through my work as a Volunteer for the Samaritans dealing with distressed and suicidal people.

After qualifying, my early work was based in the Higher Education sector at Aberystwyth University, where I became Senior Counsellor.  I worked with students aged 18 to 64 years, helping them with a wide variety of short and long term issues.

I was also one of the founder members of Seren, a charitable organization offering free counselling and support from qualified counsellors who give their time voluntarily.  Seren  provides services for adults who were sexually abused as children, and was created due to the lack of any similar  provision within the area.

Years later, I moved to Shropshire, started a private practice and continued to work part time within the Higher Education sector.  Now, I am exclusively self-employed and work privately in the Bristol area.

My clientele consists of private clients as well as several EAPs (Employee Assistance Programmes) for large and small organisations, including the Emergency Services.

Main Professional Qualifications :

  •  Post Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counselling
  • Senior Accredited Member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • BACP Registered  Counsellor
  • BPS Certificate in Supervision Skills

I am fully insured and bound by the BACP Codes of Ethics and Practice and am subject to their complaints procedure.  I have ongoing professional supervision and have to maintain continuous professional development reviewed on an annual basis.  This involves attending courses and relevant workshops, and keeping up to date with the latest research and literature.

“I like Lindsay very much because her wisdom, compassion and insight are grounded in a deep understanding of the realities and opportunities of everyday life.”
